Bhutan is a magical land somewhat resistant to time’s touch. Yes there are new hotels of stunning beauty and extravagant luxury, but most of the country remains as it was a hundred, maybe a thousand years ago, because the culture and traditions are so strong and so deeply rooted.
Redbird is running a small group guided tour in October (17 Oct- 1 Nov) and our itinerary takes us to Paro – Thimpu – Gangtey – Punakha – Trongsa and Jakar in Bumthang Province in time for the ‘tsechu’ religious/cultural festival.
There is a fascinating walk on the Gangtey Nature Trail and another through the small villages near Punakha. And of course a visit Tiger’s Nest, Bhutan’s most famous monastery.
We stop for a night in Delhi on the outbound and return journeys.
Couples and single travellers are welcome.
From £4,000 per person including economy return flights from a choice of UK airports.
The group itinerary can be personalised if you have any particular desires to see aspects of Bhutanese life and one couple have opted for a visit to a hydro-electric plant.
