Ellora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 18 miles NW of Aurangabad in Maharashtra, India. It is one of the largest Hindu temple complexes in the world, excavated directly into the rock. There are over 100 caves at the site, all excavated from the basalt rock of the Charanandri Hills and dated from between 753 – 982AD.

It is a stunning accomplishment that takes your breath away, and I think you will marvel, as I did in 2010, at the sheer effort and mind-bending calculations that must have gone into the construction.
